What happened at the EL-DE-House?

Discover the extraordinary history of this building! Originally planned to be a business house, it was turned into the Gestapo-headquarter of Cologne. The cellar with the ten former cells of the Gestapo prison reminds visitors of the victims and terror during this time. More than 1800 wall inscriptions by prisoners bear witness to torture and murder. The exhibition »Cologne under National Socialism« gives you an insight into everyday life in Cologne during the years 1933 to 1945 as well as into the history of the EL-DE-House.

Registration is recommended due to restricted attendance. You can ask for participation at the counter right before the guided tour.

Family Talks – 85 years after the first deportation from Cologne

On October 22nd 1941 the first deportation of Jewish citizens left
from Cologne, taking 1000 men, women and children to the Litzmannstadt ghetto. To mark the 85th anniversary and commemorate the thousands of Jews from Cologne and the surrounding area who were subsequently deported and murdered in the ghettos and extermination camps, this panel discussion will bring together descendants of deportees who will present their research into the family history and discuss what finding new information about their ancestors’ fate means to them.
